Trauma Informed Parenting Class (Online)Oct2020
September 23 - October 21st

Children experience trauma from many sources, some are more obvious than others - yet, there is oftentimes no way to predict how a child will respond to an event. Two-thirds of children will experience at least one traumatic event by the age of 16, so it's incredibly important to recognize the signs of traumatic stress and its short- and long-term impact. While not all children who experience trauma will suffer from traumatic stress, evidence shows that all children are impacted in some way.
Join Ali Harper in this 5-week class & discussion for individuals who work with, or are parenting, children who have experienced trauma online with Family Strengths Network. Ali has a BS in Special Education and has worked with individuals and families impacted by trauma for 20 years in various capacities. She previously served as a US Navy Command Ombudsman where she began formal family mental health training.
She now serves as a Court Appointed Special Advocate for foster children within the First Judicial District here in New Mexico, provides family advocacy and support services to individuals around the world, & is a life-long learner who is passionate about mental wellness. In addition, she is an adult that has managed a diagnosis of Complex Post Traumatic Stress Disorder for herself, and has parented her own children through trauma.
