Most parents have had at least one altercation with a car seat. Whether trying to rescue a child from an aggressive seat belt or working up a sweat trying to get the seat belt to buckle, car seats can be frustrating. And often in the end we aren’t even sure we have installed the seat correctly.
Parents put their children in car seats to protect them. However there are many styles of car seats and just as many types of vehicles in which to install them, often making installing a car seat a daunting experience. To help take the guess work out of installing a car seat correctly, Family Strengths Network has joined with Safer New Mexico Now to offer a Car Seat Safety Clinic. Safer strives to decrease the number of people injured in motor vehicle crashes through the correct use of seat belts and child safety seats. The clinic is designed to educate parents and help them feel confident that their child is safe while riding in any vehicle.
This free clinic is being offered Friday, October 23rd between 11:00 to 1:30 and includes a car seat safety inspection. Your seat(s) will be inspected for recalls, broken parts, improper installation and appropriateness for your child. Each inspection appointment is 20 minutes and you only need one appointment per family. Please call Family Strengths Network to register at 662-4515. Because of the individualized attention provided by this clinic, space is limited and registration is required. Family Strengths Network is a United Way agency.
